How many of you have looked at a photo and though I would love to do something with it but it is not quite right and you love it any way. I had this idea in my head that I need to get out as I knew which photo I was going to use for the challenge. I love the final result.

I have added a close up of the flower cluster as I wanted to show you want you can do with Vellum and Spectrum Noir Alcohol Pens. I was not sure if I could colour the vellum but I gave it a go and this is the result and I love it.

Feathers,keys and hearts

I don't participate in many swaps but just recently I took part in an ATC (Artist Trading Card) Swap. The theme was open, we could do anything that we liked.

Ages ago I brought a packed of ATC size Sticky back canvas and I finally decided to use it. It is wonderful stuff you can do anything to it and it still sticks.

I coloured and stamped the sticky back canvas with distress inks, the piece of material was coloured with dylusion spray inks, the heart was coloured with distress stain, and gelatos and the piece of paper with the quote was also coloured with distress ink. Lots of messy goodness in this ATC.

Challenge Pack

It is not very often that I actually create something for me, but 2 weeks ago I created a layout.

My local scrapbook store Create on Ormond has challenge packs that you can purchase at the beginning of the month and then you can take the completed design back to the store for a little show and tell and be in the running to win a prize.

The instructions said that we had to include a piece of everything that was included in the pack. A sketch was also provided. Well I can see where my layout came from but I may have changed it a bit too much, oops, oh well it was fun.

Inner Child

When we were kids we loved to colour, but as we got older that favourite past time was push away. Well I went back to my inner child and learnt how to colour in a more adult way.

Scrap It With Attitude is a facebook group, that I belong to and every month they have a couple of challenges. One is a sketch challenge and the other is a Design Team inspired challenge. The Design Team inspired challenge for the month of October is "Use Your Stamps"

I used a Whismy Stamp from the The Kenny K Collection - Craft Star and to colour her in I used my new Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Pens.

Kraft Paper, Chipboard and Flair

Frosted Designs have a new sponsor, StencilGirl. In 2010 Mary Beth decided to dip her toe into the stencil design business, and now provides the art community with the highest quality artist design stencils that can be use many ways.

The challenge this fortnight was to use Kraft Paper, Chipboard and a Flair. I love kraft paper as it is so versatile, but this time i decided not to do anything to it other than put it through my silhouette cameo.

I had sooo much fun creating this background, would you believe it is only one colour of Dylusions Ink and water.

Products I used from the Frosted Designs store are:

UmWow Studio - Dream a Little Dream Flair
UmWow Studio - Arrow Confetti
Dylusions Ink - Dirty Martini
American Craft Cardstock - White
American Craft Cardstock - Black

Dylusion Fun

Like all scrapbookers, card markers or mixed media artists I am addicted to supplies and what better way to have up to date and a variety of products at my finger tips than belonging to the Frosted Designs Design Team.

My favourite products to use at the moment would have to be the Dylusion Inks. It means getting messy and running around with ink staining my hands for a couple of days afterwards but I don't mind, that is the enjoyment of creating.

In this layout I have used 6x6 Echo Park Beautiful Life Paper Pad, Heidi Swap Stencil - Butterflies, Prima Flowers - Paquita, Um Wow - Dream A Little Dream Flairs and Dylusion Inks Sprays - Funky Fuscia and Calypso Teal and American Crafts Cardstock - White

I love the effect of spraying two or more inks over the top of each other (in this case only 2) and the effects you get when laying the stencil over the top and lightly spraying with water. I also coloured the little aqua roses with dylusions and water.

A close up of the gorgeous Prima flower, they have so much texture.

It was easy to add a title to my layout with the UmWow flair. My daughter is a dreamer at times and this flair was just perfect.

Chipboard

Chipboard is a product that comes in so many shapes and sizes and you can do so much with.

The challenge at Frosted Design is all about chipboard. Use it to embellish your card, layout or off the page project.

For this particular challenge I decided to create a layout. The three butterflies are chipboard which have then been painted white with Tim Holtz Distress Paint.

I love colouring my embellishment to fit my ideas. The flower and leaves have also been coloured, they were done with Dylusions Ink Spray.

The sponsor this month is a new to Frosted Designs it is Moments of Tranquility. Cannot wait to see what is created.

Thank you for coming past, Happy Creating.

Scrapbooking Classes

I have always wondered how to create a layout and thought to myself I could never do that, well i was wrong. I posted about layout that I created all by myself thanks to the classes that I have done. http://deezignerpapercraft.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/cheeky-cute-adorable.html This is the link if you would like to have a look at that particular post.

I began my scrapbooking journey, which I am loving, at Create On Ormond where I have attended many different classes since November 2011. They have included technique and mixed media classes where I have had the chance to use and buy many different products and made new friends along the way.

Create On Ormond arranged for Leonie from Leonie's Life to teach some classes. I attended 6 in total but I only have 4 layouts to share. The other 2 layouts I am not happy with what I did and have not finished. I am planning on exploring the techniques I learnt a lot more.

Embossing

Embossing can be done two ways dry embossing or heat embossing, which one would you choose?  Both are fun to play with but I ran with an idea that i pictured in my head only at the beginning of the week. I was walking a very tight timeline knowing that it needed to be completed for the challenge this week at Frosted Designs.

The 3 folders that I used were Tim Holtz Alterations: Texture Fades - Rays and Retro Circles and Spellbinders M-Bossabilities - Reversible Embossing Folders: Bricks & Bark.

Please visit the Frosted Designs blog,  you will find many wonderful inspiration projects by the talented design team.

Celebrations and Fussy Cutting

Yesterday a new challenge was revealed to the members at Scrap It With Attitude, if you have a facebook account would love you to come and visit and join the group. It is filled with very talented members who love a chat, helping each other and sharing of their work.

Celebrations and Fussy Cuttings is the challenge. I worked on a medium that I had not worked on before, a tag.

I love the colours, I know it is a stange colour combination but it just all seemed to want to go together.

Cheeky, Cute, Adorable

I never thought that I would catch the scrapbooking bug, but it seems to have caught up with me. I have been taking classes over the last 5 weeks and have really enjoyed the learning and the creating, I will share with you at another time the layouts that were produced from the classes.

Today I want to share with you a layout that I have created all by myself (what a big girl I am) using a technique that I learnt just last week.

A blog called Sassy Scrappers has a monthly challenge, well this is the first month that I have decided to enter something. The challenge was to use a mood board to create a layout project or card. What first caught my eye when I saw the mood board were the colours particular the red and orange and I knew that I had the perfect photo to use these colours with.

The Great Outdoors

I wanted to do something a little different for the challenge at Frosted Designs this fortnight. When I think of The Great Outdoors my little man, who is 3 always springs to mind as he loves playing outside. The weather can be hot, freezing cold and raining and he will want to go outside.

I am really not sure how to describe my mixed media canvas. It is certainly for a boy, it is grungy looking, fun and interesting.

Who ever wins this challenge will be the lucky receipent of not one but two prizes. The sponsors for this challenge are Spiegel Mom's Scrap Shop and Molossi.

Happy Creating.

Ribbon, Twine and Washi Tape

Ribbon, twine and washi tape three embellishments that you can do so much with.

Frosted Designs's new challenge is using two of them. Which two you ask? Well before I started this project I though I could use twine and washi tape. I have never used washi tape before even though I own about 30 rolls, do I really have that many ooops.

Everything for this project seem to have a life of its own. This project started out brown, not that you would be able to tell by looking at it now.

The background is made by gluing reclaimed lace curtain to the canvas and the copper spirals are made of ribbon and the 2 different butterflies are washi tape.

Frosted Design's has a new sponsor this month Donna Downey Studios. For those of you who don't know who Donna is, she is an amazingly talented mixed media artist. I would love for you to go and visit her website.

Hexagons and Twine

This month the new challenge at Scrap It With Attitude is Hexagons and Twine. I love being part of the Scrap It With Attitude Design Team as it has really made me push my boundaries.

Not every design comes naturally and not every design works out how I want it to and the project below is a perfect example of that. In my head I knew what I wanted to do as a back ground and how to create it but after that I had no idea what I was going to do. I am not sure how other people create but I never have a clear picture in my head of what it is going to look like.

So the background is hexagons and somewhere in there I needed to incorporate twine. My first thought was to make twine flowers, I have seen them and thought that they would fit perfectly into my design, and I still think they would. It just didn't happen, not enough time on my behalf to perfect them and make as many as I needed. So out came my trusty Silhouette Cameo and I searched my libray for a flower design. I still needed to include twine.

How did I go to include twine in my design? I love this piece. It is not my usually style but that could why I love it so much.

The challenge at Scrap It With Attitude is sponsored by Love Crafts. It is just a brand new business starting up online, so why not head on over and show them some support.

Polka Dots

Polka dots is a pattern of circles, they can be any size and  more often than not they are small filled in dots. Two colours are used to make the dots stand out, from my research its mainly the dark/strong colour as the background and the light/weaker colour as the dots.

I stylised my polka dots, yes it could be said all I did was create a line of dots, but I don't see it that way.

The challenge at Frosted Designs is Polka Dots and is sponsored by Oh My Crafts.

Oh My Crafts is a growing business dedicated to selling the latest products in paper, sewing and jewellery crafts. They have a retail store, plus a variety of products online. They attend serveral trade shows each year to find the latest products to offer their customers.

The Design Team at Frosted Designs produce so many different projects to give you inspriation, please visit and if you like a piece why not comment as we all love to receive feed back on a project we have created.

Things With Wings + Sketch

It is time again to share with you my project for Frosted Designs. The challenge is Things With Wings + Sketch. Butterflies, birds, insects or anything else you can think of that has wings.

Sometimes when you hear a theme an idea pops into your and you have no choice but to create it. So I used my creative licence with this one.

This challenge is sponsored by Molossi, please visit their website and have a look around.

Hot Glue Gun Tutorial

Have you ever wondered what else you can do with your hot glue gun, well I have and have some discoveries to show you.

Tools Required:
Hot glue gun
Extra sticks of glue
Non stick craft mat

The best way to start is print off some letters on the computer and then trace over the top with you glue gun

Not the easiest thing to do, I cannot tell you how fast or slow to do it as all glue guns are different. My first attempt at the individual letters were a disaster, I could not even tell they were letters

Or you can do your letters/writing freehand, which I found much easier

The simple styles of lettering are the easiest and the more confidence you gain then move on to the more complicated styles.

Shapes are easy to do as they can be anything and I did all of these free hand.

I have also made some flowers. I will show you my freehand flowers

A little bit of a disaster although the bottom one in the middle is not too bad

Now I will show you a flower that I have hand drawn

I have then placed it under my non stick craft mat

And traced over the top and this is the result

This is a very simple card that I made with my word.  I used X-Press It Triple Tac Glue to glue down Love. I painted it with acrylic paint.

I hope that you have fun exploring this idea. I am looking forward to experimenting a little more as well.

Punches

No not the physical kind although sometimes I think a punching bag would be great to relieve the stress. I mean the punches that you use to cut designs out of paper. There are many brands out on the market and you need to find one that suits your needs and budget.

My most used designs would have to be my 4 or 5 different butterfly ones and my circle ones that range from small (doesn't have a size) to the largest one at 6.4cm.

The challenge over Frosted Designs is Punches - use a punch or 2 to design a card, layout or mixed media project. The sponsor for the challenge is Boys Rules Kits

For my inspiration project I used 4 different sized circle punches and a heart punch.

Black, White + One

Pink is my one, I played around with orange, green, purple and aqua but decided on pink. The next question was what was I going to create to provide inspiration over at Frosted Designs for the fortnightly challenge.

When I began I am not sure what I was in my head but I know it was not this. Sometimes when things start to happen you just have to go with the flow.

The sponsor for the challenge is SpiegelMom's Scrap Shop on Etsy, why not pay her a visit and see what you can find.

Monochromatic

Do you know what monochromatic means, well according to The Macquarie Concise Dictionary it means producing or pertaining to one colour or one wavelength.

Have I got you wondering where I am going with this?

I was working on a project for the Design Team at Scrap It With Attitude facebook group. This month the challenge is creating a layout paying tribute to your Mum and it is to be Monochromatic.

For inspiration I created a mixed media canvas that is Monochromatic, it is actually harder than it seems as I really wanted to add different colours, but I love the end result and my daughter Miss C has already asked me to make her one but it needs to be in pink, purple and green.

It is quite interesting what I would do to finish a piece of art. The three stems for the flowers are all finger knitted, yes you did read it right.

If you would like to take part in this challenge and have a facebook account please click on the link above and all you have to do is ask to join. There is even a prize up for grabs it is a $20 in store gift voucher from Shop and Crop Scrapbooking.

Hope to see your layouts really soon.

Happy creating

Technique Tuesday at Frosted Designs

I would like to share with you how to use a product called Mask It. It comes from X-Press It, it is a low tack film that provides you with many possibilities

Mask It
Tools Required:
Mask It
Sharpe Blade
Ink
2 different stamps
Heat Gun
Card Stock

When choosing the stamps start with one that that has an easy shape to cut around and the second stamp as a background. To begin first stamp the shape that you want to mask. For quick drying use the heat gun. ce

Once image is dry cut a piece of the Mask-It that will completely cover the stamped image, you dont need any excess as you are going to cut away the film and just leave it on the image.

When cutting the film, dont press to hard as you want to cut the film only and not the card underneath, which is why I suggested you use a simple shape to get the feel for it. Make sure that your blade is sharp if need be put in a brand new blade, will make it just that little bit easier as you dont have to press as hard.

Once you have finished cutting the film, carefully remove the Mask-It that is not covering the stamped image. Do it slowly just in case you have not cut all the way through, this allows you to carefully recut the film in the right spot.

Now that excess film has been removed ink up your second stamp and stamp over the top of your first image.

After you have stamped your second image it is time to remove the film that is covering your image.

Mask-It can be used in many ways, create your own shape and use it as a stencil, stamp an image and then colour the card around it. Before putting the Mask It over the first stamped image colour it in.

Hope that this tutorial has sparked your imagination, Happy Creating. If you would like to see more tutorials please visit Frosted Designs
