Dreamer of Dreams

Are you a member of the facebook group Soul Sisters? It is affiliated with the shop Art and Soul Studio. The reason I ask this question is that not only is it a wonderfully supportive group but they also have twice weekly prompts to get you creating. The prompts are for a project called Artsy Circles, using the prompt you can create anything that you like as long as the substrate is a circle.

A couple of weeks back the prompt was stencil. I used two, one from The Crafters Workshop - Mini Cubist and another from Scrap Fx - Day Dreamer. I love stencils, for me it is an addiction, that I just cant get over.

In my stash I had some gelli prints that I had done a little while ago. This is what I decided to use as my background. I attached the circle to my print with matte medium.

Once I decide which way I liked the texture of my gelli print I then used my tcw stencil and dina wakley paint to add some colour.

I used versamark ink through my Scrap Fx Stencil so that I could emboss the image. I was so cross with myself as I used some tape to hold down my circle so it didn't move but then I went and ripped the print in two places when I removed the tape. I decided not cover them up, it just adds to the journey the Artsy Circle took me on

Here is a close of the embossed image.

The final step was to attach the words and add a little colour.

Products that can be found in the Art and Soul Studio shop are listed below
dina wakley media heavy body acrylic paint - umber, turquoise, tangerine and ocean

The challenge is a mood board

How much fun can you have with this, we would love to see what you create.

I took my inspiration from the colour palette and the quote and created a journal page. Here are some close up of the texture I was able to create. If you would like to see my process then please pop on over to Shop and Crop Scrapbooking Blog (see link above).

Art and Soul Studio

Today is the a good day for an adventure to begin. My very first post for Art and Soul Studio (blog and shop) is live. I am a part of a pretty amazing and talented team.

This set of tags came about because I had just brought tracksuits pants for the winter school uniform for my two. The tags were just too good to throw away.

I love creating layers and I these tags have 5 layers. Creating layers always involves getting messy especially when you paint with your fingers.

If you would like to know how I created my three tags the please pop on over to the blog where you will find a photographic tutorial.

products used: liquitex gesso - clear, tim holtz idea-ology - small talk, archival ink - jet black, versamark - watermark stamp pad, dina wakley media paint - penny, tangerine, ruby and night, paperartsy seth apter stamp - esa02, dina wakely media stamp - silhouetted women, ranger embossing powder - clear, versa colour - rose red, kaisercraft stamp - script, faber-castell pitt pen big brush - black, prima marketing stencil - grungy grid (all items available in the shop are highlighted pink)

Artsy Layout

Artsy I can do but combine that with a sketch and photo panic stations set in. This was another class from the weekend. The description of the class was "for anyone wanting to explore their love of scrapbooking with their desire to make art". Just reading that I knew I had to do this class by Fiona (blog), it sounded fun and messy, but I knew I would learn something. Maybe get over my fear of sketches.

Before class I actually found a photo that I thought I might like to use, in the end I didn't use it, but at least I had one. You have to go into Fiona's classes with an open mind, you cannot have preconceived ideas of what you will create. For me that's lucky because I never know what I am going to create I just wing it.

On entering the classroom we were given an artist board, a double sided page of abstract (love abstract) sketches and a sheet of different pencil grips. How you hold your pencil makes a difference to the marks you make. I was having so much fun making marks.

At the front of the class Fiona demonstrated how she goes about starting a sketch and then sent us on our way. She doesn't tell us what to do but shows us techniques and that way we all created totally individual pieces of art. The sketch I chose to use and my finished piece don't resemble each other at all but is was a place to start.

And this is what I finished with

Products used - gesso, paynes grey paint, grey lead pencil, donna downey stencil - scribble script

Wanderlust 2016

Wanderlust is an online mixed media course that runs for the whole of the year. It's created and facilitated by Kasia and Jamie from Everything Art. They are a Uk based creator of Inspirational Art, Mixed Media, Art Journaling, Craft and Creative Online Classes. Each week from either Jamie, Kasia or one of the 24 guest teachers we received a video. In addition to these videos there is a fortnightly art journal prompt, a collage challenge, plus lots of other fun things to participate in.

Below is my art journal page from the first art journal prompt, which not only did Kasia produce a video of the prompt but also on that video she created her page. I cannot remember her exact words but basically you had to choose a word that describes you. My word is discover, because I have decided that 2016 is my year to discover my creativity and discover who I really am and where I fit in, in this creative world that I explore each and every day.
